Our Firm

A Watseka law office, focused on estates

Tungate Law isn't a general practice trying to be all things to all people. It's a local office concentrated on probate and estate planning — and that focus is a strength.

What You Can Expect

The way a local firm should work

Estate matters are personal. They involve grief, family relationships, and property with history attached. Our approach reflects that.

  • i

    Plain language

You shouldn't need a legal dictionary to understand your own affairs.

  • ii

    Local knowledge

Decades of work with Iroquois County families, property, and courts.

  • iii

    Honesty

No scare tactics, no promised timelines, no guaranteed outcomes — just straight answers.

  • iv

    Personal attention

A small local practice, not a call center. You'll be known by name.

Who We Are

A family practice since 1976

The firm is led today by J. Sumner Majer, keeping the practice in family hands. His aunt, founder Susan Sumner Tungate — an Illinois lawyer since 1976 and for twenty years a judge of the Twenty-First Judicial Circuit — is now retired, and the standards she set remain the standards of this office.

The office also carries the legacy of James L. Tungate, who practiced law in this county for more than forty years.

Let's talk about what you need

And if your matter lies outside our focus, we'll say so plainly and point you in the right direction.
